The Cadbury Chocolate Factory Tour
|
One of the most popular tourist activities in Tasmania is the Tour of the Cadbury Chocolate Factory in Hobart. The Factory is located about 10km from the city centre and there are a few ways you can get there. If you want to use the public transport system there is bus or taxi. If you have plenty of time the local public bus service, called Metro, is available from the bus mall adjoining the GPO and travels via a round about route which will eventually get you there. Not too good if you have kids, or pushed for time. Taxi is the best option, and very cheap if you have a group. You could get there for about $30 each way. By the way a family ticket for entry to the factory, is $31.50, while the adult ticket is $12.50 at the time of writing, Child $6.50, Student $9.00. The most novel way is to catch a River Cruise, and that way you get to see the factory, the River and many Hobart landmarks from the water, and the Cruise businesses on the Sullivans Cove waterfront offer all-inclusive packages. This option requires some walking so may not be the best if you have frail, elderly or wheelchair members in your party. You’ll see chocolates
being made – and get a taste of free samples. The Factory Tour starts
at the Visitor’s Centre. You'll learn about the history of Cadbury
Claremont, in fact the Cadbury Claremont Factory, established in 1921,
has 18 heritage-listed buildings. Get the chance to purchase Chocolate
at factory prices. They have a Cafe on site, but if you come by boat,
then refreshments including beer, wine and spirits are available on
board. Advance bookings are a must! Cadbury Factory Tour
