The Hunter Street redevelopment and Henry Jones IXL building refurbishment.

When Kim Millington and Richard Crawford dreamed up the Henry Jones Art Hotel, it was a biggie, and with their partners, talented architects and technicians they seem to have pulled off one of the most stunning makeovers any post-industrial building has ever had. The opening night was fabulous, the numbers testifying to the relevance of the development.

Hunter Street really makes a statement and opens up the potential of the Eastern side of Sullivans Cove. Now The Cove really is a big historic, cafe scene, touristy, working port, theme park from Battery Point to Hunter Island (can you find it?).

Interpretation Panels across the Cove lead you to some understanding of how it must have been 100, even 150 years ago, Hobart is now 200 years established at Sullivans Cove, after the original landing in Risdon Cove a year earlier was abandoned in favour of a place with better cafes! (resources, mainly water).

Check out before and after pictures over the next couple pages and see for yourself and visit the beaut cafes and especially the atrium, which will be a social asset year round.
